X-Labels equipped with the industries most advanced inspection technology with Erhardt+Leimer
In the interest of continuous quality improvement the company X-Labels (Germany) has decided to equip all the group’s printing presses with Erhardt + Leimer inspection technology. The system from the NYSCAN range of products guaranties X-Labels 100% inspection of “all” of their print production over the entire run time and web width. Dependent on the inspection parameters of the high resolution camera’s, all faults found are permanently documented in a roll protocol. These roll protocols are subsequently used in the NYSCAN Work-Flow to position the detected faults on the splice table of the downstream slitter-rewinders of the finishing department.
The operator is therefore released from the tedious and difficult task of visually inspecting printed material.
The core of the X-Label workflow solution is automatic roll identification via an existing BDE Barcode, in conjunction with the archiving of all the roll reports of all the presses on a central server, with direct linked connection to the quality control department. This level of integration is a first in the industry, and the QC department is therefore in full control of the acceptance/rejection of any faults, Quality Control uses the powerful NYSCAN Roll:Scheduler software to edit each roll on single and repeat faults.
In order to load the correct roll protocol a BDE barcode and hand scanners are used. After editing the roll protocol the modified file is again stored on the central server by QC, ready to be accessed again by a bar code scanner which placed placed at each and every slitter-rewinder.
The defect stop positions which have been refined by QC are then automatically and accurately positioned thus single faults can be corrected and larger faults will be removed.
This conclusive and logical workflow-solution has been successfully installed at X-Label and will now be rolled out across all the existing presses and slitter rewinders accross their two sites. X-Label proves again its leading edge position in productivity, innovation and quality control.
